About Chris
Chris is currently the 3D visual effects supervisor at Black Swan. He’s dedicated himself to perfecting the craft of 3D visual effects across many disciplines. His love for drawing and art started at the age of 5 and continued from there, eventually leading to art studies with talented colleagues at the University of Washington where he focused on Drawing, Printmaking, Painting, and Graphic Design. Then with an Art Degree in hand, to escape the rain and combine his love of art and computers with the burgeoning world of 3D visual effects, he proceeded to the Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood. After graduating from their Certificate Program he quickly began working as a 3D freelancer for Motion Theory.
Shortly thereafter he moved on to Full Tank where he took on the sole 3D artist role, responsible for creating full 3D content for applications from broadcast media to DVD video games. This involved him in all aspects of the production pipeline from concept/client communication through to project finishing.
Subsequently he joined up once again with Motion Theory, employing his rapidly growing 3D skill set with a small core department on jobs for clients such as Sony, Gatorade, HP, Budweiser, EA, Verizon, and Sears. There he greatly advanced his expertise leading jobs, previs, and supervising on set in addition to the regular duties of 3D work.
Eventually an opportunity arose to join a new small branch of the Moving Picture Company in Santa Monica where Chris acted as senior visual effects artist, working with a very high-level group of skilled and hard working individuals. Some clients included Sony, Coke, Toyota, Acura, Ford, Schick, Guinness, and AT&T.
